George, better known as Ceez Up 1, lived through what many don't walk away from. A former gang member turned community voice, his story isn’t just one of tragedy, but of transformation.
In 2004, Ceez and his brother found themselves face-to-face with fate. What was supposed to be a quick trip to Vegas became a night that changed everything. Right from the jump, signs were everywhere, and things kept going wrong. They forgot their IDs and had to reroute their path. But they pushed on. That detour? It landed them in the wrong place at the worst time. They decided to make a pit stop, which changed his life forever.
They met fate in that moment, a rival gang 20 deep. Jumped and left them for dead, Ceez was hit five times with a 40mm hollow point. His brother, once. But that one bullet took his life.
That moment shattered everything. But it didn’t end there.
After serving time in prison, Ceez had a moment of clarity. Locked up, surrounded by silence and steel, it was a bunkmate’s words that sparked the shift. A conversation that cut through the noise and forced him to see the choices that led him there, and more importantly, the ones he still had left to make.
When Ceez walked out, he left more than bars behind. He left behind the cycle. He committed to turning his pain into purpose. Now, he's not only a survivor, he’s a speaker, a mentor, an educator. He speaks raw and real to youth, using his story as armor, not just for himself, but for the next generation.
